June 11, 1982

The 3,600 workers on strike at Northwest Airlines for nearly three weeks have asked federal mediators to resume talks which ended with a rank-and-file vote that overwhelmingly defeated a $63 million contract.

The company, says it has not hired any outside help to replace the striking workers and has been able to operate at 70 percent of the total system with the personnel available.
