Iran executes two Bahais

Two members of the Bahai faith were executed in Iran after two months of pressure failed to force them to convert to Islam, the Bahai National Center here reported.

A center spokesman said relatives accidentally learned of the executions of Sadullah Babazadih and Nasrullah Amini a week later. Both men were identified as members of the local Baha'i governing body in Khaniabad.

The Bahai faith, founded in Iran in the 19th century, is regarded as a heretical sect by Iran's fundamentalist Islamic leaders.

Bahai sources outside Iran have said more than 100 members have been either murdered or executed since the 1979 Islamic revolution.
