Gandhi forces defeat Marxists in Kerala

Prime Minister Indira Gandhi gained an early prize in Indian state elections when her electoral alliance won a majority against a Marxist-led challenge in the southern coastal state of Kerala. But the situation was not clear in the three other states where counting was going on after assembly elections Thursday.
