Monitor editorial writer, education editor honored

Charlotte Saikowski, chief editorial writer of The Christian Science Monitor, has won a United Press International Newspapers of New England award for general editorial excellence.

Miss Saikowski was cited for an editorial on safeguarding courts from congressional legislation which would limit their jurisdiction.

Monitor education editor Cynthia Parsons received the International Reading Association's Best Series award for her weekly series, ''52 Ways to Improve Schools.''
