Tripoli fighting eases after five days, 53 deaths

Gunbattles between rival factions in the north Lebanese port of Tripoli subsided Tuesday, but sporadic shooting continued and sounds of explosions were heard in several parts of the city, security sources said. State-run Beirut radio said schools, shops, and businesses remained closed. In the last five days , 53 people have been killed and 180 injured in clashes between the pro-Syrian Arab Democratic Party and the anti-Syrian Popular Resistance organization.
