PLO Angered by US veto on condemning Israel

April 5, 1982

The executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) attacked the United States for vetoing a UN Security Council resolution denouncing Israeli actions in occupied Arab territories.

A PLO statement said the veto April 2 pointed to ''US complicity in Israel's escalating aggression, oppression, and murder inside and outside the occupied territories.'' It said the PLO will call for a special session of the UN General Assembly, where the big powers have no veto, in order to draft deterrent resolutions against Israel.
