Walesa not freed for christening of 7th child

The baby daughter of Solidarity leader Lech Walesa was baptized by the Bishop of Gdansk. Her father, who has never seen her, remained in detention near Warsaw.

The martial law authorities kept Mr. Walesa from the ceremony, despite pleas for his release by his wife and the Polish primate.
