West Bank protests follow killing of Palestinian teen

Israeli troops imposed a curfew on the Arab West Bank town of Ramallah following the announcement by Mayor Karim Khalaf that he was resigning. Mr. Khalaf later withdrew his resignation after pressure from ot er Arab mayors to stay at his post.

Violence was reported in several West Bank towns after the weekend shooting of a Palestinian teenager in El Bireh.

In other Mideast developments, Egypt asked for a postponement of a round of the stalled Palestinian autonomy negotiations scheduled to begin March 21 because of Israel's insistence that the talks take place in Jerusalem, Foreign Ministry officials said.
