Red Cross team visits Walesa, says he's OK

March 2, 1982

Officials of the International Committee for the Red Cross have visited Solidarity trade union leader Lech Walesa in Poland and found his condition satisfactory, the group's president said.

But he could not disclose where or when they saw Mr. Walesa, who has been held since martial law was declared Dec. 13, president Alexandre Hay told a press conference.

But two of Mr. Walesa's seven children told reporters their father was in good spirits after visiting him in Otwock, a health resort outside Warsaw.
