Singapore orders out two Russians as spies

The Singapore government ordered the expulsion of a Soviet diplomat and a Soviet official of a local shipyard, accusing them of espionage.

The diplomat, Anatoly Larkin, tried to obtain sensitive military information from a Singapore Army officer, a governmnet statement said. The two Soviets were ordered to leave within 24 hours. The Soviet Embassy declined to comment on the expulsions.

The Singapore action followed Indonesia's expulsion this month of two Soviet diplomats and the manager of the Soviet Aeroflot's Jakarta office for spying activities.
