Scrub Brush and Pen

February 22, 1982

Scrub brush and pen, strange partners; yet, each in its way familiar to the hand. Scrubbing has its own evocative rhythm that mind relates to. Though it was unplanned, the poem fitted in. Lines, phrases, jotted down by half-wet fingers, came out right, made sense, captured the essence of what I had not known I meant to say. Inspiration is no snob, can prove itself delightfully casual and workaday.
