Guatemalan leftists push drive to disrupt elections

February 17, 1982

Leftist guerrillas killed two soldiers in an ambush, seized two radio stations, and burned a town hall in their campaign to disrupt the country's March 7 presidential elections, authorities said.

Rebels firebombed municipal offices late Feb. 14 in San Sebastian, bringing to about 60 the number of town halls burned in the past year.
