Indonesia weighs a slash in Soviet embassy staff

Indonesia is considering drastically reducing the number of Soviet embassy staff after expelling a diplomat for spying, the government said.

The diplomat, assistant military attache Sergei Egorov, left from Jakarta airport Feb. 6. There was a fistfight in the airport as security agents arrested Alexander Finenko, the Jakarta chief of the Soviet airline Aeroflot, who was escorting the diplomat. Mr. Finenko is being held because suspicions he was also involved in espionage, a spokesman added.
