Hearing tomorrow on Irish activists held in New York

January 25, 1982

Member of the British Parliament Owen Carron and fellow Irish Republican Army (IRA) supporter Danny Morrison were arraigned this weekend in a federal court in nearby Buffalo, N.Y., on criminal charges that they gave false statements while trying to enter the US from Canada. They were jailed without bond pending a hearing Tuesday.

Mr. Carron, who has never taken his seat in Parliament, was elected to the Northern Ireland seat vacated by the hunger strike death of imprisoned IRA guerrilla Bobby Sands.
