Warsaw says miners quit sit-in

Warsaw Radio reports that the last known point of major resistance to the martial law authorities - a two-week sit-in strike by coal miners at the Piast pit in southern Poland - was ended Monday night.

The radio had estimated earlier in the day that 900 workers were still involved in the underground strike.

In a broadcast monitored in Vienna, the radio said the strike committee at the mine had dissolved itself and the men were coming to the surface in groups.
