Soup kitchens ahead? Salvation Army alerted

The Salvation Army is reportedly gearing up for the possible revival of depression-style soup kitchens in response to what the organization sees as an impending economic ''national emergency.''

A story in the Philadelphia Bulletin says the organization expects that because of the nation's high unemployment rate and President Reagan's welfare cuts, poverty by next spring will become as widespread as it was in the 1930s.
