December 14, 1981

A bomb exploded in a car in central London this weekend, killing its two passengers and injuring the driver, all of whom were of Middle Eastern origin, police said.

The three were parked in fashionable Connaught Square, close to normally busy Oxford Street.

At this writing Sunday, authorities said they didn't know who was responsible.

Guerrillas of the Irish Republic Army, who are fighting for British withdrawal from Northern Ireland, have set off five explosions in London recently.
