For the Record (1)

November 27, 1981

Mid-November auto sales were 33.8 percent below last year's depressed levels, but up from sales during the first 10 days of the month. Compared with the same period in 1980, the drops ranged from 24 percent for Chrysler Corporation to 41 percent for Volkswagen of America Inc. Chrysler, with the smallest drop, posted what a spokesman called ''our first down 10 days in quite a while.'' For the year, however, Chrysler is the only domestic automaker selling more cars than in 1980.
