I am too small

November 17, 1981

I am too small for all there is of earth, for all there is of sky, and what lies between. How can I hope to compass so much green or appreciate the blossoms' worth? Quick my eye, to catch a sight of deer, if wind whispers, keen my ear to hear. Patiently I wait for suns to set, for dawns, rise early. This is true, and yet so much escapes me! I should have to fly wider than clouds, faster than eagles, and lie awake all night for moons, and be unfurled in a billion flowers to comprehend the world!
