700 charged by Egypt in Sadat assassination

In a virtual smashing of Muslim extremists who opposed Anwar Sadat, Egyptian police say they have arrested 700 people charged with the assassination of the late President and a related coup attempt.

Officials say the killing of Mr. Sadat was only part of a much bigger plan to seize power and create an Iranian-style Islamic regime in Egypt.
