Charcoal portraits quick as a wink

November 3, 1981

It doesn't take hours to create charcoal portraits of the family anymore. Now a portrait can be produced in three minutes, at $4 apiece. Electro-Graphax Corporation in Wisconsin has come up with a photographic process requiring no special skills to produce charcoal portraits. The process involves an instant print camera and enlarging-processing equipment which achieves a charcoal effect.

Small studios offering the portrait are springing up in the United States, Canada, and Europe - usually at shopping centers, amusement parks, or tourist-resort areas.
