Two key Khomeini leaders seek Iranian presidency

Two key leaders in Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's regime announced they both want to be Iran's next president, revealing an unexpected split within the ranks of the ruling religious fundamentalists. Mahdavi Kani, appointed prime minister after the assassination of the previous prime minister and president last month, announced he will contest the same election as Hojatoleslam Seyyed Ali Khamenei, leader of the ruling Islamic Republican Party.
