US rejects PATCO bid for new contract talks

The union representing 12,000 striking air traffic controllers yesterday sought new contract negotiations with the Reagan administration, but the government said it was not interested.

The proposal was made by the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) at a hearing of the Federal Labor Relations Authority, which regulates labor relations within the government.

The authority is considering a request from the government to decertify PATCO because of the controllers' strike last month.
