US won't block charging fees for illegal aliens' kids

The Justice Department won't oppose tuition charges for illegal aliens' children, court documents show. The government reversed its previous stand, developed during the Carter administration, in briefs filed in a Supreme Court case challenging a Texas law denying free public education to such children.

The department said it would not take a stand in the case, allowing the students' parents and Texas officials to dispute the matter by themselves.
