Iran's deposed President Abolhassan Bani-Sadr was quoted as saying he would guarantee an end to assassinations in Iran if the government halted executions and shut the courts responsible for them.

He told the Tokyo newspaper Asahi Shimbun he has direct relations with an underground resistance movement within Iran, giving daily instructions on its operations.

Meanwhile, Iran's new prosecutor general said Tuesday that revolutionary courts will be set up in every city to intensify the crackdown on counter-revolutionaries believed responsible for the wave of assassinations of ruling islamic clergymen.
