China to offer a mountain for foreigners to climb

Mt. Qogir, at 28,251 feet the world's second-highest peak, will be opened to foreign climbers from the unconquered Chinese side next year, the New China News Agency reports. Better known as K2, the peak was first conquered from the south side by an Italian team in 1954. It is the highest mountai n in the Karakoram Range, separating china from Pakistan.
