Municipal strike roundup from coast to coast

Curbside gargabe piles were growing and City Hall was closed for the third day Wednesday by a walkout of 1,800 municipal workers here. Meanwhile, 14,000 technical, clerical, and maintenance workers in Minnesota were in the third day of their strike Wednesday.

In New Jersey talks were to resume for 600 striking Atlantic County workers on strike since July 9 seeking better wages and benefits, and state officials negotiated with striking highway toll collectors and maintenance workers as their wage walkout approached its third week.

But in Los Angeles County, 6,000 electricians ended a five-week strike, accepting a tentative two-year contract prov iding a 35 percent increase.
