Okay, the striking movie and television writers have won their increases in minimum payments for scripts -- plus what amounts to royalties in the burgeoning pay-TV and video cassette market from which they wanted to claim their share. And we don't underestimate establishment of a principle that considers them more like the royalty-receiving authors of books and plays. But is there a quid pro quo here? For all that extra income the writers get, will viewers get anything extra on the screen? A little more taste, perhaps? A little more quality?
