Guerrilla rockets hit two towns in Israel

July 16, 1981

Rockets apparently fired by Palestinian guerrillas in southern Lebanon hit two towns in northern Israel, the Israeli Army radio reported. A report said the Soviet-made Katyusha rockets exploded in Qiryat Shemona, in the eastern sector of the border, and the Meditterranean resort of Nahariya. The attack was believed to be in retaliation for a series of Is raeli air strikes against Palestinian targets in Lebanon.
