Dutch want gas to go for industry

July 6, 1981

The Dutch may be changing their attitudes about the country's natural gas bonanza. A recent survey by the Netherland institute for Public Opinion found that 68 percent of those questioned felt any additional revenue from natural gas revenues should be used for building and expanding industry. Only extra proceeds should be used to expand social services, the majority felt.

In the past, the Dutch have generally favored using the gas for social programs, unemployment bene fits, and higher pensions.
