Older workers use sick days less

July 1, 1981

Older workers would seem to be healthier than younger ones, the American Council of Life Insurance reports. At least they don't "call in sick" so often.

Employees between the ages of 17 and 44 averaged 3.7 days lost for health reasons in 1979, according to government statistics. Their elders - - workers 45 and older -- averaged 3.1 lost days.
