Begin says raid destroyed secret installation, too

The Israeli air raid on an Iraqi nuclear power plant last Sunday destroyed a secret installation 40 yards below the ground, Prime Minister Menachem Begin said. Mr. BEgin said the Iraqis had developed a secret underground installation to evade detection by the International Atomic Energy Authority. The authority, based in Vienna and set up under UN auspices, establishes and administers safeguards designed to ensure that nuclear facilities that come under its surveillance d o not further military purposes or endanger public health.
