Sale of graduates' names to US recruiters debated

The Massachusetts House of Representatives debated a controversial measure to allow officials to sell the names of secondary-school graduates to military recruiters. The state Senate passed the measure over the objections of liberals and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese; they say it violates student rights to privacy and will be used to enforce federal draft registration. Sen. Robert Hall, sponsor of the measure, said the bill was inspired by an article in a Marine Corps ma gazine.
