New York pianist wins Van Cliburn contest

Andre-Michel Schub, a concert pianist from New York, was awarded the top prize in the Sixth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Mr. Schub, who has appeared with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic, won a cash prize of $12,000, along with a series of recital appearances both in the United States and Europe, and a recording contract.

Americans also won the next five prizes in the quadrennial competition, named for the internationally famou s classical pianist.
