Wing and Curve

May 28, 1981

There is a seagull line of wing, An upward cadence in the growing, A windward sort of going Like tulip leaves in spring. Waves curve forward into spray; A curly mouth upturns the same, An eyebrow, rabbit ear or flame Has this always graceful way. And in a voice, an upward tilt, T he sound of love, its note, its lilt.
