Chemical firm plans recycling

Foremost-McKesson Inc., a distributor of food, drugs, beverages, and chemicals, with annual sales of $4.2 billion, expects to move into a growth sector of the recycling field, according to company development information.

The California-based conglomerate plans to build six US plants at an estimated cost of $50 million or more to recycle used chemicals, including cleaning solvents.

New technology will undoubtedly play a part in saving 70 percent of those spent chemicals now discarded. Company management estimates that by 1985 it could expect new sales of $100 million from the chemically retrievable residue under the proposed process.
