Prince Sihanouk in Peking for talks on anti-Viet role

April 20, 1981

Prince Norodom Sihanouk, the former Cambodian head of state, arrived in Peking for talks with Chinese leaders who want him to form a united front with the rival Khmer Rouge against the Vietnamese forces in Cambodia. Talks in North Korea last month between Prince Sihanouk and Khieu Samphan, leader of the Khmer Rouge guerrillas, broke down after a failure to agree on a future role of the Khmer Rouge forces in Cambod ia.
