PLO condemns Reagan policies

April 14, 1981

The Palestine Liberation Organization has condemned President Reagan's Middle East policies and called for closer ties with communist and Western European countries. In a keynote address to the Palestine National Council, the PLO's political chief, Farouk Kaddoumi, denounced Secretary of State Alexander Haig's recent Middle East tour and made clear the PLO regards the new US administration as worse than its predecessor.

The report to the council, the Palestinian parliament-in-exile which is holding its first session for more than two years, said the United States had adopted a "hostile, o ffensive policy in the area" to expand its influence.
