Minor aspects

April 8, 1981

Whoever loves in April shall be bound To see the earth henceforward with new eyes. No sudden rush of spring, no sight or sound Ever again shall take him by surprise. Cherry blossom storms that shook the heart With oratorios once, in future food Shall find a main impervious to all art And taking miracles for what they're worth, Shall take for granted as his rightful due Each brand new heaven and each brand new earth -- Shall see as minor aspects of his spr ing The flowers bloom, the larks come back to sing.
