Doctors optimistic on Brady's outlook

White House press secretary James S. Brady, shot in the brain during an assassination attempt on President Reagan, is making "extraordinary" progress and is expected to survive, doctors said Tuesday. Early assessments gave Mr. Brady little chance to survive without brain damage. But after 4 1/2 hours of surgery Monday, doctors were more optimistic -- and they upgraded their prognosis more markedly Tuesday.
