US pushing for reduction in minimum pay for teens

The administration supports a lower minimum wage for teen-agers but is not ready to endorse a specific legislative proposal, Labor Secretary Raymond Donovan told Congress Tuesday. As a Senate Labor subcommittee opened hearings on the issue, the US Chamber of Commerce also came out in favor of a youth sub-minimum but warned against efforts to increase the current $3.35 hourly minimum wage for other workers.
