Rock Point

March 9, 1981

This poem was written last summer when the author and her family moved to Rock Point, Ariz., to the Navajo reservation from California. Pretty sunflowers. Beautiful red rocks. I like whale rock. Sunsets rise every night -- how pretty the skies are. Lots and lots of tumblewoods -- they feel like cactus. Rough-skinned horny toad -- flat when he's scared. Long-tailed lizards; they're fast. Crickets hop fast. Green and yellow corn growing in the fields. Kind people. My daddy goes to the Rock Point School. The store has things to buy. Boiling hot sun. I love Rock Point.
