Charles Mannat to head Democratic Committee

March 2, 1981

The Democratic National Committee Friday elected Charles T. Mannatt of Los Angeles as its new chairmen. The veteran party fund-raiser promised to "renew this party from top to bottom for the challenges of the 1980s and 1990s." He also promised to cope with recent Republican accomplishments by developing a "new American agenda" of political ideas to be assembled by a party policy council.

His election was made unanimous by the withdrawal of his last rival, Josept F. Crangle of Buffalo.
