Zimbabwe's socialist plan -- very little Marxism

The Zimbabwe government unveiled its blueprint for creating a "socialist, egalitarian, and democratic state." A 19-page document fell far short of the Marxist policies espoused by Prime Minister Robert Mugabe and his followers during the seven-year war against white rule. At that time, Mr. Mugabe endorsed large-scale nationalization of land and strategic industries. The new policy statement, however, veered closer toward a mixed economy and spoke of joint ventures between government and private enterprise.
