W. Germans vow to share any extra NATO burden

West Germany has pledged to shoulder its share of any extra defense commitments decided on by NATO following renewed US pressure on members of the Western alliance to increase military spending. Defense Minister Hans Apel, opening a nine- nation conference on the Western military situation here, answered criticism from the Reagan, administration that West German defense spending increases were too low, saying Bonn's defense budget had risen 21 percent in real terms between 1970 and 1980.
