Clearwater

February 23, 1981

From browns and greens of the riverbank we see the arched stone bridge above Clearwater complete itself: the rippled stone that floats and the stone that wears to weather's changing mood -- illusion and fact -- units to make one whole and perfect ring through which the water moves. To the perceptive and reflective eye a gnostic mystery is here revealed: how every separateness is but a bridge and every bridge the will to be complete; that above/below, present and past, north, south, east, west, seen and unseen $ %do meet.
