A California law school cleared of reverse bias

February 13, 1981

The California Supreme Court has upheld the minority admissions policy at the University of California Law School at Davis, ruling it does not discriminate against white applicants. The court, in a landmark 4-2 opinion, ruled that Glen DeRonde, a white man, was not discriminated against when he was denied admission to the Martin Luther King Jr. School of Law in 1975. The case had been heralded as a crucial test in determining how far public schools can go in considering r ace and ethnic origin in admitting students.
