February 9, 1981

Israeli military authorities have confiscated 2,500 acres of land in the Salfit area west of Nablus on the occupied West Bank of the Jordan, Nablus Mayor Bassam al-Shaka said. He told Reuters all the headmen of the villages in the area received letters informing them of the confiscation. He did not know what the Israelis planned to do with the land, although several Jewish settlements have been built on land in this area. "They have taken so much land from us we are in danger of not being left with any. This is all part of the p rocess of Judaizing the West Bank," Mr. Shaka said.
