US is reported planning to sell F-16s to S. Korea

The Reagan administration has agreed to sell F-16 jet fighters to South Korea and expects to submit the proposed sale to Congress soon for approval, it was reported. The Washington Post quoted sources as saying President Reagan's decision was conveyed this week to the official party of visiting South Korean President Chun Doo Hwan. Disclosure of the sale came in the aftermath of a joint communique that said the US will sell "appropriate weapons systems and defense industry technology" to improve South Korea's ability to deter aggr ession.
