Gulf accused of failing to report reservation oil

Gulf Oil Company has failed to report production of more than 72,000 barrels of oil from the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming and therefore owes $116 ,901 in royalties to two Indian tribes, the Denver Post reports. Gulf was the first producer to be tied specifically to oil thefts from the reservation, but at least four others are being investigated by authorities, the paper said. A Gulf spokesman said the company has made all payments due under the 12.5 percent royalty rate, although he acknowledged there had been errors in the past.
